Association Profile
GVAA, formed in 1957, consists of about 30 volunteer and paid emergency medical technicians that serve twelve (12) hour shifts, either 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. We are certified by the State of Connecticut to operate three (3) mobile intensive care ambulances. All technical members are licensed EMT-B's, or I's and carry certification in cardiac defibrillation through Hartford Hospital. We respond to around 2,500 calls annually.
The association's executive board consists of six officers. President, Vice President, Second Vice President, Training Officer, Secretary, and Treasurer.
GVAA is a 501C3 organization and incorporated in the State of Connecticut.
Our Mission
Provide emergency medical service and ambulance transport for all residents in and of our town, who require such emergency assistance, including any and all which may arise in town, and to any person who becomes sick or injured while in town.
Provide emergency first aid facilities when requested by the police in the event of a fire, disaster, or civil disorder.
Conduct, encourage, and assist in emergency medical training and safety education for all interested persons.
Provide ambulance standby coverage and/or first aid station manpower for non-profit and or civic organizational functions held within the town.
